From September 23rd to September 26th , vegetable professionals got acquainted with the latest range of open field vegetable varieties at Hazera’s International Open Days, situated near the village of Dirkshorn in the north-west of Holland. These Open Days, a real “living catalogue” of many crops and varieties, were organised together with our Limagrain sister companies HM.Clause and Vilmorin, which made the event a complete and very interesting experience for everyone involved in the vegetable business. The number of visitors has been increasing again to more than 800 professionals, who saw numerous new varieties on show in for example white cabbage, onion, carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, squash, leek, radish, beans and chicory witloof.
A selection of novelties in fruited crops like tomato, cucumber and watermelon were shown in the (enlarged) pavilion. There was much exchange on the latest trends and technologies in vegetable growing, and excursions took place to processing industries and local growers, where our guests could see the latest technological developments.
This event was the right occasion to present the new Hazera brand to the whole sector. The new Hazera name and new brand reflect the important expansion of our worldwide unified business that is based on a broad product portfolio, experienced and dedicated staff, supply chain excellence, professional expertise based on a great combined heritage and a commitment to continuous progress.
As innovation is one of the cornerstones of our company strategy, we were proud to announce during the International Open Days the start of the construction works for a new crucifer (cabbage, cauliflower and radish) breeding station in nearby Warmenhuizen. The first pole was hit into the ground by two aldermen of the municipality during an official ceremony in presence of numerous VIP’s from the seed business.
For those who were there: thank you again for your visit and we hope to see you soon again at one of our events!
